American Cocker Spaniels were bred to flush woodcock from low brush. They were also used to retrieve the downed birds.

These dogs are not suited to living outdoors. They need to be with their people in order to be happy. It is important to that they get used to being left home from time to time to prevent separation anxiety.

INTERESTS & HOBBIES

Many love to play fetch. This breed excels at scent sports, including nosework and tracking. They can be very fast at agility, and some are even playing at sports like dock diving.

EDUCATION

Definitely participate in puppy classes as well as basic household obedience classes. From there you can branch out to whatever sport you think your dog might enjoy.
